Manage Areas Of Expertise
Note:
This feature is available in Meridian Portal only.
An expertise in Meridian Portal is a functional role that has the authority to review documents for compliance with specific technical requirements. An expertise works similar to a security role but applies only to document reviews. Examples of areas of expertise are: engineering, safety, and legal. A document might need to be reviewed for compliance with all three kinds of requirements but each expertise is only responsible for reviewing compliance to their own set of requirements. Each project type in Meridian Portal may have different areas of expertise and some expertise may be common to all project types. You assign areas of expertise to project types in the distribution matrix described in Manage the Distribution Matrix.
Instead of assigning a document review to specific project members, you assign it to these areas of expertise. That way, you can be sure that all types of requirements are represented in the review regardless of which project members perform the review. An expertise can be assigned as the lead reviewer, a required reviewer, or an optional reviewer. This also helps you to clearly see the differences when project members are assigned to different review responsibilities in separate project types, disciplines, or classifications. You assign project members to the areas of expertise for each project as described in Manage Project Membership.
To perform the tasks described on this page, you must be assigned to the Tenant Administrator role.
