Clarification on Thumbnail Generation

The AutoVue viewer is required for thumbnail generation. It is not possible to use Enterprise Server/Publisher to update thumbnails in the Meridian vault or to use scripts to generate thumbnails with PowerUser 32/64 bits.

Note:

Java is required for AutoVue to work as the client component. For both cases described below, a Java license must be purchased separately to install AutoVue. Learn more about Oracle Licensing Affecting AutoVue and JRE.

For PowerUser, as thumbnails are generated on the client side, AutoVue must be installed on all workstations. You can use one of two options:

  • AutoVue x32

  • ICViewPlugin x32/x64

    When compared to AutoVue, this option can be used for a smaller set of file types.

For PowerWeb, on the Meridian Web Server, as the thumbnail is generated on the Web Server, AutoVue installation is also required.
