You will often want to work with multiple documents in a project and perform one or more actions on those documents as a set or batch. You do this in the typical application by selecting the documents that you want to work with and then starting some command. However, your selection is usually cleared after the command is finished and the application doesn't remember your selection if you navigate around within the application. In cases when you want to perform multiple actions on the selection, you have to reselect the documents for each action.
Meridian Portal provides a clipboard to make working with a set of documents easier and even more powerful. Think of it as a way to cause Meridian Portal to remember your selection until you explicitly clear it. The clipboard works similar to the Windows clipboard except that it doesn't contain a copy of the document content. The clipboard remembers the documents that you have added to it regardless of your current view of the project. You can add or remove individual documents from the clipboard at any tie and clear it completely to start over with a different set of documents. When documents are on the clipboard, all of the commands that are valid for the documents (for example, Accept, Release, or Send) are available in one place in the clipboard toolbar.
