Create a Package

You can create a package either by:

Making a new, empty package to which you can add documents that you select.
Converting an existing public collection into a package. For information about creating a public collection, see Create And Edit a Collection.

In both cases, you select a publishing job to export the collection. The publishing job specifies where and how the package will be created.

You can create a package first and then add items to it or you can first select some or all of the items that you want to include in the package and then create the package.

Note:

For users who open Meridian Explorer from Meridian Portal, collections are called packages and this is reflected in the user interface. Substitute the word packages for the word collections in the following tasks.

Create New Package

To create a new, empty package:

In the view bar, click Collections.

The Collections view appears.
In the Collections ribbon, click New collection.

The New collection dialog box appears.
Click options or type values using the descriptions in the following table.
Click OK.

The package appears in the list of collections.
Add documents to the package the same as if it were a collection as described in Create And Edit a Collection.

Package options
Option	Description
Name	Type the name of the package as you want others to see it.
Collection type	Select Package. Meridian Portal users can only create Package type collections.

Convert Existing Public Collection into a Package

To convert an existing public collection into a package:

In the view bar, click Collections.

The Collections view appears.
In the collections list, right-click the name of the collection that you want to convert and then click Change to Package on the context menu that appears.

A dialog box opens, asking you to confirm your choice.
Click Yes.

The Edit dialog box appears.
On the Profile page, click options or type values using the descriptions in the preceding table.
On the Destination page, click options or type values using the descriptions in Export a Package.
Click OK to save your changes without exporting the package.
