Access to Download Documents and Renditions in PowerWeb and Explorer

This article clarifies how access privileges are determined for downloading documents or renditions in PowerWeb and Explorer.

PowerWeb

To use the Download rendition command, a user needs to have the View rendition and Copy Outside Vault privileges.

To use the Download native command, a user needs to have the View content and Copy Outside Vault privileges.

Explorer

To download documents and renditions in Explorer:

1. Configure the toolbar buttons according to the desired download options (such as SiteCache, Web Access, and Download to Folder). Follow instructions of Configure Toolbar Buttons in Configure the Results Grid Layout.

2. In Global permissions, enable Download native document or Download rendition, as appropriate for your needs. See Configure Global Permissions.

If these privileges are not enabled, all selected download methods appear but trying to click them causes an error message.
