PDFTron Rendition Shows Unreadable or Chinese Characters in Text Files (*.txt)

If you use PDFTron to render TXT files, the rendition will result in Chinese or illegible characters.

Solution

This issue can occur if the text files were generated in ASCII format — via VBscript, for example. PDFTron is unable to render TXT files created in ASCII encoding format.

When other third party tools or methods are used to generate text files in a Meridian Vault, PDFTron might be unable to encode it properly, presenting a different result in the rendition.

To bypass this PDFTron limitation:

• Avoid creating TXT files in ASCII encoding format.

• Convert your existing TXT files to UTF-8 format.
