How to change the user name and password for an Oracle database

Background

When creating a vault using the Oracle driver, the user name MERIDIAN and password MANAGER are required. Once the vault's Oracle instance is configured, you may change the user name and password with the procedure described below:

Description

This procedure will work with all versions of Oracle supported by Meridian Enterprise.

Tto change the Oracle account user name or password.:

  1. Create a new Oracle user account with the password MANAGER (case-sensitive).
  2. Grant the new account the same rights as the old MERIDIAN account according to the Meridian Enterprise Administrator Guide.
  3. In Administrator, right-click EDM Server in the left pane and click the Engine tab.
  4. Change the account name from MERIDIAN to the new account name and click Apply (this is important).
  5. The vault is now running under the new account name with the old password of MANAGER.
  6. Click the Password button, enter the old password (MANAGER), the new password, confirm the new password, and click OK.
  7. The EDM Server service is now running under the new user name and password. However, the vault tables are still in the original MERIDIAN Oracle schema.
