Meridian Enterprise 2017.1.1 server and workstation update (2017 R2)

Background

Meridian Enterprise 2017.1.1S and 2017.1.1W are incremental server and workstation updates, respectively, for Meridian Enterprise 2017 Service Pack 1. They include important fixes that have been made since the general release of Meridian Enterprise 2017 Service Pack 1 in June, 2017.

Description

This update has the following limitations:

  • The server update can be installed as an upgrade to Meridian Enterprise 2017 SP1 or as a new installation. The client update may only be installed as an upgrade to Meridian Enterprise 2017 SP1.
  • May be installed only on the server, only on the client PCs, or on both.
  • Does not require access to the Meridian Enterprise 2017 SP1 installation package files.
  • Is for all Meridian Enterprise servers regardless of the license level Base, Standard, or Plus.
  • The server update includes the Meridian Enterprise 2017.1.1 client components that are also required on the server. The separate workstation update does not need to be installed on the servers.

Provides basic integration of Meridian project folders with the project repository feature in Meridian Portal. This supports collaboration between users internal to the organization and external users.

The workflow is:

  1. Meridian users link project folders to Meridian Portal project repositories (Link to Portal command).
  2. Meridian users select and send documents to Meridian Portal (Send to Portal command).
  3. Meridian Portal users edit, review, and approve documents in the repositories.
  4. Approved documents are automatically imported back into the Meridian project folders by a background task for release as master document revisions.

The integration is designed to be simple and require minimal configuration (including property mapping) but allow more extensive integration (Document.SendToPortal VBScript function) with existing workflow processes when needed. In this release, no privileges are implemented to avoid requiring a vault upgrade and will be added in a future release.
