Error “The certificate used to identify this application has expired”

Background

Meridian Enterprise and Meridian Explorer can be installed with AutoVue in a client/server deployment for document viewing. The applications use a Accruent component named jVueIntegration to communicate with AutoVue.

To allow it to be trusted to run on client computers without causing browser security warnings, the component is digitally signed by Accruent using a security certificate issued to Accruent, LLC. Security certificates are issued for a 3-year period of time, after which they expire and must be renewed. Security warnings can occur when running the component if the certificate has expired.

Description

The certificate that was used to sign the jVueIntegration component expired on May 29, 2016. The component was included in all Meridian Enterprise versions beginning with release 2013. Attempting to view documents with AutoVue after that date will produce a Java security warning that includes the text The certificate used to identify this application has expired unless one of the following software updates is installed.

Accruent has issued software updates for the following supported releases that include components signed with a renewed certificate:

To install the updates for the releases after 2014, follow the instructions in the linked articles.

To install the updates for the releases before 2015:

  1. Replace the files in the following locations on the web server with the files from the archive file:

    C:\inetpub\AMM\Res
    C:\inetpub\wwwroot\BCEnterprise\JAR\Res
  2. If this does not prevent the error on some client PCs, clean the Java cache on the PC and retest.
