Resolve Assembly in Inventor

The Meridian integration with Autodesk Inventor automatically locates and links the components of an assembly, even when the files are in different folders within the vault. This ensures that complex assemblies open with all references resolved, reducing manual effort and improving efficiency in both online and remote mode.

When you open an assembly in Meridian PowerWeb, Inventor integration searches the Meridian vault to find missing component files. Meridian matches components by name. The search stops when Meridian finds a match or confirms no match in the vault. Meridian matches components by name. The search stops when Meridian finds a match or confirms no match in the vault.

Meridian handles matches as follows:

  • One match: Resolves the assembly automatically.

  • Multiple matches: Displays the Resolve Link dialog, allowing you to select the correct file.

  • No match: The component stays unresolved, and you must locate it manually.

We recommend clearing the Search for other unresolved references using this location checkbox in the Inventor Resolve Link dialog.

Configuration to avoid false matches

As a system administrator, you must configure the ExcludeFolderForMatch setting in Meridian Configurator > Inventor Application Link Settings > Settings. This setting informs Meridian which folders to skip when searching for matching components in an Inventor assembly. It helps avoid false matches and improves resolution accuracy.

Each folder path must end with a \ character.
